Top 10 tips for getting the most from your trade show:

1.Understand your reason for being there, are you hoping to sell products ? Are you looking to generate leads? Are you looking to increase your profile or raise awareness.

2. Set goals for the show and monitor your progress at least 3 times a day.

3. Ensure your brand consistancy, make sure the everything matches, your stand, advertising, leaflets, PR and sales message.

4. Your show staff are you best asset, choose them wisely and look after them. Keep them fed and watered, for long shows think about using 2 shifts the first starting early and finishing early the second starting later and finishing later.

5. Make your stand staff easy to find, think about uniforms or badges.

6. Leaflets or brochures, have your professionally designed to ensure maximum impact and to ensure you stand out from your competition.

7. Business cards are the single most effective marketing material you have, both in the halls and in the evenings at the various networking events. Make them stand out and carry your sales message on both sides. Mant companies have speacial cards designed for the show to reinforce your message.

8. Have show meetings before and after the show each day with all staff to debrief and review your goals for the show.

9. Think carefully about stand "freebies" do they offer good value or draw the wrong type of people to the stand. Maybe producing memorable marketing materials will ensure you are remembered for your products.

10. Use social media to build excitement prior to the event and blogs or Twitter during the event to keep non attendies up to speed. Maybe have a microsite designed alongside your normal website specially for the show.
